Abstract
In this work a laser Doppler velocimetry technique has been implemented in order to evaluate water jet velocity distribution in water-jet and abrasive water-jet cutting plant. The knowledge of the water jet velocity is fundamental in order to determine system efficiency; in particular it allows to determine, in a experimental way, characteristic coefficients of the orifices employed in cutting process (e.g. the coefficient of velocity, Cv).
