Abstract
Presents the results of morphological and structural analyses of the island of Ischia (Southern Italy) using AIRSAR and ERS-1 SAR data. It is shown that a transformation based on Cloude´s target decomposition of covariance matrix improves the morphostructural interpretation of polarimetric SAR images. The fracture system, craters and the drainage pattern have been emphasized by applying this transformation. The results of the morphological analyses give further support to the caldera avalanche model.
