  • Abstract
Summary form only given. The voltage oscillation is observed in the discharge voltage waveform of a fluorescent lamp. The characteristics of the voltage oscillation are investigated experimentally as a function of discharge current, I/sub D/ (200/spl sim/500 mA), operating frequency, f (1/spl sim/400 kHz), discharge tube diameter, /spl Phi/ (15.5/spl sim/38 mm), discharge length, L (6.5/spl sim/123 mm), and electrode heating current, I/sub H/ (0/spl sim/0.4 A), where the characteristics of the oscillation are described by the amplitude of the voltage, V/sub pp/, and the half-cycle time, T/sub pp/, at the first half-cycle. The employed discharge tube is filled with Ar of 333Pa and small quantity of Hg. The electrodes are those employed in ordinary 20 W fluorescent lamps.
