Abstract :
Wireless sensor networks have recently emerged as one of the hottest research fields. Sensor coverage, in general answers the question about the quality of service (QoS) that can be provided by a particular sensor network. This paper presents a density mobility scheme (DMS) which can improve the system coverage by moving the nodes to its nearby coverage hole it detects. In the DMS, a mobile sensor can move to a sparse area only if its neighbor nodes can cover most of its sensing area. With the assumption that every sensor can aware of its geography location, the sensor in the DMS determinates its mobility state and target by the distribution of its neighbor nodes. Because each node confirms its policy by its own and neighbors-location information, the scheme has implemented in a distributed manner. Simulation results show our scheme can obviously improve the coverage with rather less sensor moving.
