Abstract :
When a preliminary water-using network is obtained with a synthesis approach, the network can be further simplified to reduce the interconnection number by shifting the source streams. In this paper, a mass-load based source shift algorithm is proposed to simplify water-using networks. A few examples are investigated to show the method proposed. The approach proposed in this work is simpler than the literature methods. From the results obtained, it can be seen that the method proposed can provide networks which cannot be obtained by the literature methods.
