Abstract :
A method of generating an optical clock that can be tuned from 100 GHz to 1 THz and the transmission of the optical clock thorough a 20 km-long single-mode fiber are demonstrated. The generation method employs three techniques: the modulation of CW light by an electroabsorption modulator, pulse spectrum expansion through higher-order soliton compression, and spectrum filtering by using two fiber Bragg grating filters with tuning range of over 1 THz.
