Abstract
A numerical method to compute two-dimensional flows around an oscillating flat plate in a uniform flow is presented. The modeling is performed assuming the potential flow in an ideal fluid which allows for describing flow field characteristics with high computational efficiency. Specifically, the flat plate is modeled by a bound vortex sheet while the evolution of free vortex sheets shed from the edges of the plate to satisfy an unsteady Kutta condition is computed with Krasny´s regularization technique. For the validation of the proposed approach, some preliminary results are presented for fixed and oscillating flat plates and are compared with those of previous experimental studies.
