Summary form only given.We report the periodic poling of stoichiometric lithium tantalate (PPSLT) and the characteristics of a QPM-OPO with 2 mm thick PPSLT pumped by a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The OPO output increased by more than 50% as compared to that with congruent lithium tantalate, and the oscillation threshold was remarkably decreased. It is expected that samples up to 5 mm thick could be poled with good controllability.
