Abstract :
Summary form only given. Laser emission of Pr:LiYF/sub 4/ (YLF) was demonstrated on several wavelengths in the visible spectral range both in the pulsed and cw mode. In any case the /sup 3/P/sub j/ manifold, where the laser radiation originates, was excited directly by flashlamps, dye lasers or argon-ion lasers. Recently a quite interesting concept has been reported using a diode pumped intracavity frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser at 473 nm as a pump source.
