Abstract :
Summary form only given. The use of the dispersion-managed (DM) soliton as a modulation format is promising in realizing long-distance wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) systems with large channel bit rate. One of the major factors limiting the performance of such systems is the collision-induced timing jitter. We evaluate the timing jitter and estimate the maximum achievable transmission distance of filtered WDM DM soliton systems operated at a channel bit rate of 40 Gbit/s.
