Abstract
This paper presents a case study of Petri net synthesis technique that merges strongly connected state machine modules for modeling flexible manufacturing systems. This method is capable of modeling multiple initial statuses of resources, which is an extension of the author´s (1994) former work. To demonstrate the applicability of the method, the synthesis and analysis of a complex flexible manufacturing system is performed
