Abstract :
A description is given of the design of the British Telecommunications switched-star multiservice network now operational in London. Particular attention is given to the choice of network architecture, service provision, and control. The Mark 2 design is discussed. A study is also presented of an all-digital, all-optical multiservice star-structured network which anticipates broadband ISDN
