            Abstract :
Robustness is an important requirement placed on well-designed fuzzy controllers. A robust fuzzy controller can deal with significant and unpredictable process changes. When designing a fuzzy controller it is particularly important to ensure that reasonable performance is obtained for parameter variations within and outside the design ranges. This paper presents a systematic design methodology for tuning a class of fuzzy controllers using cell maps of dynamic systems. Cell map information is incorporated in a genetic search for tuning the rule-consequent function parameters of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy controllers (1985). The effectiveness and robustness of the designed fuzzy controller are evaluated using the inverted pendulum control problem
