  • Abstract
Presented here is an algorithm for retuning controller parameters to mitigate the effect of time delay in a network-based control system. An examination of the effects of time delay on network-based control systems is presented. The proposed methodology measures the present time delay in a control system to intelligently update the controller parameters to maintain nominal system performance. A comparison of systems with modified and unmodified controller parameters is given. A proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is used in the two examples (one short time delay and one long time delay).
