Abstract :
In view of a particular GIS structure, a new type of planar antenna with extremely wide bandwidth is introduced. Due to the analysis of the relationship between antenna impedance and bandwidth, the investigated antenna bandwidth is broadened. The influence of dimension on antenna VSWR is optimized by using the simulation software Ansoft HFSS. Then, an antenna prototype is fabricated and measured. The impedance bandwidth from 1.29 GHz to 5.1 GHz is achieved at VSWR≤2.5 with dimensions of 72mm×44mm, which has the ultra wideband performance. The antenna has the characteristic of simple structure, small size, wideband, easy to make, low cost of manufacture, and can be used for UHF partial discharge in the special structure of GIS.
