Abstract
This paper describes an evaluation study which was carried to analyze the behavior patterns of the operators that typically occur in interaction with a computer-based diagnosis information system (DIS). DIS was developed for the maintenance tasks in semi-autonomous production islands. The evaluation study was conducted in special work-training centres and in companies of the metal-manufacturing industry. The users´ interaction with the system and the increase in knowledge were recorded and analyzed. Additionally, the potential users´ assessed usability of the system according to software-ergonomic principles was included
