Abstract :
Summary form only given. It has been shown recently that biaxial ferroelectric crystal Sn/sub 2/P/sub 2/S/sub 6/ (SPS) is a very efficient and fast photorefractive crystal for near-IR spectral region. In particular, for operation wavelength /spl lambda/=1064 nm it exhibits a gain factor /spl Gamma/ as big as 7 cm/sup -1/. Additionally, the crystal is characterized by nontrivial (slowly decaying) dynamics of the beam coupling, and demonstrates very short characteristic response time for average recording light intensity with preexposure of the sample to the white light.
