Abstract
Decision support systems (DSS) often require information about preference relations as an input for the decision making process. Forms that are currently popular for this purpose have been found to be lacking in flexibility and precision. Preference elicitation forms that use graphic representation schema provide a better modeling methodology but present implementation difficulties. Algorithms that simplify the process of preference solicitation in practical DSS settings are presented in this paper. The algorithms provide a simple mechanism for the completion of partially described preference structures and the detection of preference intransitivity
