  • Abstract
The NSF/IEEE Center for Computer Applications in Electromagnetic Education (CAEME) has been established to stimulate, accelerate, and provide leadership in the area of computer-aided instruction in electromagnetics. During the first 18 months of its operation, the center published a catalog of available software, funded 12 software development projects at 11 different universities, sponsored five workshops and organized four special sessions in symposia, and is in the final stages of producing its first book, which will contain diskettes of the developed software. In addition to the continued support of software development projects, the center has identified new avenues on which to focus its future activities. These include the use of developing technologies such as interactive videos and multimedia presentations and the development of guidelines and procedures to help in the effective use of its software products in classroom and laboratory instruction. The Center´s activities are summarized; examples of the developed software are described; and focus for future efforts is discussed
