Abstract :
Summary form only given. Recent developments in bio-aerosol detection have demonstrated the ability to record single-shot fluorescence spectra (from 250-700 nm) from single particles (as small as 1.8 /spl mu/m in diameter) flowing through a well-defined sampling volume. We report on a 32-anode photomultiplier capable of recording single-shot fluorescence spectra at repetition in excess of 1.4 k particles per second, while maintaining single photon sensitivity.
