Abstract :
Summary form only given. The new nonlinear Ca/sub 4/GdO(BO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ (GdCOB) material has probably all the right properties to be used as an efficient crystal for frequency doubling. We recently demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge, the feasibility of optical waveguides in GdCOB by using helium implantation. We report in this paper the investigation of second harmonic generation (SHG) in GdCOB planar waveguides using type I noncritical phase-matching at 823 nm and 960 nm.
