Abstract
In this paper, the authors have proposed a complete design method for a self-organising fuzzy logic excitation system, which combines the AVR and PSS functions. A novel online training algorithm is developed which modifies the fuzzy rule base. Analysis shows that a globally converged control surface is obtained to achieved the desired performance over the full range of operating conditions and disturbances. The performance of the fuzzy logic controller is evaluated in comparison with a self-tuning regulator in simulation and on a laboratory micromachine
