Abstract
This paper describes the concept of mobility which encompasses the terminal mobility provided by mobile systems (cellular, PCS) and the personal mobility defined by Universal Personal Telecommunication (UPT) services, and their relationship with respect to definition and service applications; access procedures and smart card application; numbering and identity; mobility management and call handling; and internetworking between UPT and wireless systems. The technical challenges of supporting UPT in PCS environment are also discussed
