Abstract :
A 14-channel analog optical processor is introduced as a basic module to perform operations in signal processing and optical computing. To avoid the disadvantage of optical analog processors as well as high specialisation and low accuracy it is proposed to utilize an acousto-optical systolic array processor (AOSAP´s) using binary coded data. Applying this processor the multiplication of two numbers with high accuracy by convolving their digital representations is demonstrated. The modular structure of the systolic architecture allows an expansion to a systolic array and permits the solution of complex mathematical operations
