Abstract :
This article examines new nonlinearity considerations for higher blocking margins in DVB-T and UMTS receivers for test cases having at least one modulated blocker. It will be shown that the 3rd-order inter-modulation (IM) products due to adjacent channel and in-band modulated blockers can be analyzed individually, allowing the various receiver requirements to be met optimally. For UMTS, the adjacent channel selectivity (case 2) and maximum input level test cases result in additional nonlinearity requirements. Similarly, these additional considerations also apply to immunity to adjacent channel blockers in DVB-T systems.
