Abstract :
Along with the development of information technology, information security is becoming an important problem in the stability of electric power systems. Cryptographic methods play key roles in achieving the information security goals for the electric power industry. However, the final cryptographic solutions are incomplete without effective key management. This paper addresses issues of key management that arise in feeder automation systems. Based on the Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem (ECC), a key management scheme is presented, which is appropriate for the Feeder Automation (FA) system with centralized mode. By using the ECC techniques, the mutual authentication and key agreement of the communication entities can be effectively accomplished on real time; meanwhile, the analysis results show that security requirements are also satisfied.
