Abstract :
Summary form only given.Optical time-division-multiplexed (OTDM) transmission is attractive for future ultrahigh-speed optical networks, because of its high bitrate-to-bandwidth ratio and the natural accommodation of higher bit-rate payloads. Generation of OTDM signals, which consists of optical short pulse generation and time-division multiplexing, is one of the key techniques for realization of OTDM systems. This paper describes recent progress in high-speed OTDM signal generation.
