  • Abstract
A new type of hierarchical high-order vector (HHOV) basis functions (BFs) based on triangular patches were used to analyze electromagnetic (EM) scattering from the complex three-dimensional multilayered dielectric objects, the metallic objects, and their composite in this paper. The HHOV BFs have been used to lower down the computational cost radically. The CFIE-JMCFIE has been applied to simulate scattering from the hybrid metal-dielectric targets with arbitrary shape. Combining with multilevel fast multiple algorithm (MLFMA), the new type of HHOV BFs further reduce the computational complexity and the memory cost evidently. For the case of lossy dielectric object, a modified formula for the mode number (L) is given in this paper. The numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed method can greatly lower down the memory requirements, increase the solution efficiency and acquire reliable results.
