Abstract :
Summary form only given. The use of dispersion management has been shown to allow the transmission of data at 40 Gbit/s over distances greater than 1000 km in standard fiber. In this regime, it becomes difficult to find the optimal parameters to allow the maximum transmission distance. Here, we introduce a simple numerical technique to find the best average dispersion and input pulse chirp. Using the optimized parameters we form a numerical model allowing transmission of data over 3000 km of dispersion-managed standard fiber.
