Abstract :
We analyze the effect of phase-induced intensity noise (PIIN) on source matching gain for time coded optical CDMA using coherent sources. Previous studies only examined a Z-channel, while we study a binary asymmetric channel that takes into account PIIN. We show that the gain from using a source matching technique depends on the normalized laser signal coherence time, i.e., laser coherence time divided by the bit time. As the bit rate increases, the performance of source matching gain decreases due to the PIIN effect.
