Abstract :
We consider the implementation issues of incorporating data service features into CDMA digital cellular systems (DCS), using the 800 MHz band, and personal communications services (PCS) networks, using the 1.8 GHz band. For an asynchronous/fax data service, we investigated an effective configuration of protocol stacks over data terminals and mobile phones which will help the initial spread of data services. Also the evolution step of the data terminal is considered. A method of integrating asynchronous/fax and packet data service facility into a data terminal and mobile phone set is discussed
