Abstract :
We present the detailed analysis of the dispersion characteristics of air-dielectric 1D and 2D photonic crystal (PC) using transfer matrices (Kronig-Penny model), and plane-wave model. Using the instability theory the gain/attenuation regimes are distinguished for PC with gain medium.
