Abstract :
In the paper, the biosorption of Pb(II)and Cu(II) ions from contaminated water using a bacterial strain was studied in a batch system. The bacterial strain isolated from heavy metals-contaminated soil was identified as Bacillus sp. The optimum conditions of biosorption were determined. Lead and copper were removed effectively at the concentration that was lower than 100 mg/L. And the concentration of bacteria was also an important factor in removal of heavy metals. The results indicated that the strain Bacillus sp. is a suitable biosorbent for the removal of Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions from contaminated water.
