Abstract :
Backscattering enhancement in random media has been of great interest in remote sensing and radar engineering, and has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. In turbulent media, incident and backscattered waves are coupled statistically through the so-called double passage effect. It is therefore expected that the backscattering cross section (BCS) of a target in turbulent media is remarkably different from that in free space. This paper presents an approach to the problem of wave scattering from a target in random media, and numerical results of the BCS of a conducting circular cylinder surrounded by strong turbulent media.<>
