Abstract :
We demonstrate using particle-in-cell (PIC) computer simulations that symmetric axial extraction of radiation from a magnetron driven by a transparent cathode provides good separation of eigenmodes switched by the applied axial magnetic field, even for a large number of identical cavities. In addition, high efficiency magnetron operation and stable π-mode generation over a wide region of magnetic field and for various cathode radii are demonstrated.
