The paper portrays India´s journey down the technological highway in the field of telecommunications. The country recognises the importance of telecommunication infrastructure for its socio-economic development. Through policy statements and liberalization the country is trying to provide international grade connectivity and value-added services to its vast populace. Its educational institutions and technical reservoir help the nation in this pursuit
