Abstract :
The Rayleigh like fading of the mobile channel limits the channel capacity. Reduction of this fading at the mobile is possible by Doppler frequency compensation on fixed directional beams formed by an array of antennas. The proposed technique uses a partitioning of the angular domain that generates equal contributions to Doppler shifts. Such equal Doppler contributions can be desirable in antenna combining or diversity systems. Beams that correspond to the partitioning are synthesized using the Fourier method and the fading reduction scheme is described. The fading reduction is quantified as an increased autocorrelation distance relative to that from an omnidirectional antennas
