Abstract
A symmetric, six-port branch-waveguide directional coupler is designed and optimized to achieve the required electrical performance of a three-way power divider. Four 90 degree mitered bends are included and optimized in the structure in order to obtain the desired output-port interfaces. A CAD tool based on a fullwave mode matching method has been used in the design and in the optimization. The three-way power divider has been manufactured in a very compact two-half structure. Good agreement has been obtained between the numerical and the experimental results; therefore, no additional adjustment has been necessary.<>
