Abstract
Summary form only given. There is considerable interest in compact lasers that operate in the blue spectral region. Through the use of an aperiodic crystal and a pulsed diode laser we have demonstrated a compact 3.25-mW blue laser source. The experimental scheme for the frequency doubling of the diode laser is illustrated. For a cw power of 108 mW, the maximum SH output power from the periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/ (PPLN) was 150 /spl mu/W.
