Abstract :
The authors propose a low-profile mobile DBS receiving system, which uses a slotted single-layer leaky waveguide array to realize a large beam-tilting angle of about 50 degrees. By using a large number of short radiating waveguides, the beamwidth in the elevation plane is wide enough to dispense with elevation tracking. A simple tracking method can be adopted, in which the antenna is steered mechanically only in the azimuthal plane. They show the radiation patterns and the gain of the model antenna. They also present C/N (carrier to noise) ratio of the model DBS receiving system measured at various places in Japan and demonstrate the system feasibility.<>
