Abstract :
Wireless Sensor Networks functionality is closely related to network lifetime which depends on the energy consumption at the node level as well as the network level. Analysis of the energy consumption contribution of each node component to the total energy consumption of a node through a measurement approach with theoretical formulation of a performance metric and simulation results from a widely used simulator verify that optimization techniques aimed at the optimal use of the radio communications subsystem could substantially improve total energy efficiency.
