Abstract :
Normally the equivalent circuit models for synchronous machines base on one damper circuit. This means that the effects of the eddy currents in massive rotor parts are neglected [1]. The influence of the eddy currents on the parameter determination is given in [2]. The normally used models will be updated by [3]. This means that the interaction between the damper circuit and the field winding circuit will be taken into account. This aspect is important when the interest is focused on the field winding. A further fact should be treated in this paper is the cross-over component of the damper currents between the damper winding and massive parts of the machine because normally the damper bars are fixed without any insulation.
