Abstract
As wind turbines quickly spread throughout the USA, many wind generation sites were designed, developed and installed very quickly and not always with long term dependability in mind. This review of cable testing methods used in both acceptance testing and annual maintenance practices will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the various methodologies in wind farm applications. Also discussed will be a method for a time based approach to cable maintenance testing and how to develop standards and qualify personnel for the procedures.
