Abstract :
Summary form only given. Improvements in diode brightness have been achieved by manipulating the output of diode bars. First developed for enhancing astronomical images, stripe stackers employ two reflective surfaces, which transform the optical output from a linear array to a vertical stack thereby enhancing M/sup 2/ in the horizontal direction (along the length of the linear array) at the expense of M/sup 2/ in the vertical direction.
