Abstract :
As the permanent magnet secondary section of a linear synchronous motor passes the primary section, a cogging force is produced due to the interaction of the magnets with the steel teeth of the primary. By analysing the force wave developed and optimising the geometry of the secondary design, this cogging force can be reduced.
