Abstract :
Future mobile systems currently being designed propose to support a wide mix of traffic types and levels of quality of service (QoS) for users. High data rates are supported through mixed modulation schemes and QoS is sometimes achieved by allowing users to request higher signal powers. This paper examines the effect on the capacity of a CDMA system of offering preferential data rates to selected users through higher order modulation. The CDMA system is based on the use of near far resistant LMMSE receivers and operates over a fading wireless local loop (WLL) channel
