Abstract :
Summary form only given.High-order harmonic generation in gases provides a unique source of high brightness, coherent extreme ultraviolet radiation. Recent progress in ultrashort-pulse laser technology has led to the generation of sub-10-fs laser pulses with hundreds of microjoules energy. The availability of such high-peak power pulses opens the way to the investigation of the harmonic generation process in the few optical-cycle regime. We investigate the spectral properties of harmonic radiation generated in neon by sub-10-fs Ti:sapphire laser pulses. We also present the results of a three-dimensional nonadiabatic numerical model.
