Abstract :
Voltage waveform distortion on the power grid increases commensurately with sophisticated solid-state energy conversion due to the rapid development in power electronics. Harmonic distortion directly affects revenue and operating costs of a utility and customers. Traditional energy rates do not reflect these costs. Tariff strategies to allocate the cost of waveform distortion are considered. It is proposed to be one solution to regulate the total harmonic pollution in a power system.
