  • Abstract
With the introduction of new guidelines regarding the connection of large wind farms to the grid, wind farms and equipment providers are facing with new opportunities and challenges. One of which is low voltage ride-through (LVRT). Despite of the new installations, there are a considerable number of wind turbines to be reformed to meet the requirements. In this paper, a brief explanation of the principle of LVRT is given at first, which shows the emergency of providing shunt and series compensation at grid voltage faults. A detailed introduction and analysis on the research status and industrialization of high-power FACTS devices for LVRT is carried out. New technologies aiming at enhance the LVRT capability and steady-state performances are also noticed. The survey provides clues of the development of further LVRT research at the level of wind farms.
