Abstract :
A new technique is presented for the exact design and synthesis of high-quality lossless discrete-integrator (LDI) Jaumann digital filters. The proposed technique is based on the development of a discrete-time prototype reference filter derived such that it permits the main important steps in the Jaumann digital filter synthesis to be performed directly in the discrete-time z-domain in terms of the LDI monomial. The resulting Jaumann digital filters are capable of realizing lowpass (LP), highpass (HP), bandpass (BP), and bandstop (BS) transfer functions, and are minimal in the number of the required digital multiplication and canonical in the number of the required unit-delay operations. In addition, the corresponding HP and BS realizations are completely free from the stability problems stemming from the pole-zero cancellation at half sample-frequency which is inherent in the existing LDI digital filters realizations
